About

Our Purpose

Missouri Young African Professional (MOYAP) is comprised of committed African students and professionals who are empowered to improve the welfare of their counterparts in the St. Louis Metropolitan Area. Its focus is to connect African students in St. Louis with mentor-ship, meaning connections, and vital resources. The goal is to be on the frontline of any African related issues, create a unified body of African students, and also elevate Saint Louis to be one of the intellectual centers for Africans in the Midwest. In addition, we seek to foster community empowerment and leadership development through our initiatives and events.

Changing and shaping young African students' lives being one of MOYAP goals, we want to make sure that members get the best out of the events we host. We believe that creating empowering events that are fun but educational for the communities is one way we can meet our goals. We host at least four events a year that helps members to network, educate, give back and raise funds for the organization and students in need.

Networking Events

Engaging minds, empowering success

Hosting networking events is the main goal of MOYAP. We believe that by bringing in successful professionals with similar experiences/paths to come share their stories with the young is one way the young can be inspired to achieve their goals. These networking events are also a great opportunity for attendees to meet and connect with other Africans in the St. Louis Metropolitan region. We hope that the events can connect eager young professionals with the resources, generate enriching conversation, as well as cultivate strong relationships.

Cultural Awareness

Sharing a Part of Africa with You

You can't talk about Africa without talking about its unique and diverse cultures. With our organization’s mission always in mind, we strive to find new ways to stay authentic and show our pride in our culture by having traditional African events from all over the continent. Through presentations, folktales, games, dressing, dances etc., MOYAP is able to share a part of Africa, educate the world and embark stereotypes.

Mentorship

Next Generation Leadership

With access to the right resources, the young can become empowered by their own abilities and gain the confidence they need to fulfill their potential. Whether you are in high school, college, working, retired or unemployed, there is always someone who can use your learn from you vice versa. We invite you to learn more about our mentorship programs and lend your support.
